Richelle Charkot is a Toronto-based film programmer and journalist. She is the Programming Directors at The Royal Cinema (608 College Street), where she oversees film bookings and manages a team of curators. There, she individually programs a monthly film series called Retropath!, which specializes in offbeat cult films, with a unique curated lobby pop-up preceding each screening featuring local artists with work for sale. She also programs the screening series Rue Morgue's CineMacabre, which showcases beloved horror cinema new and old, coordinating with the latest print release of the magazine. She is currently a staff writer for Rue Morgue Magazine, but she has contributed to dozens of publications over the years, including Broken Pencil Magazine, Eye Myth Film, Paracinema Magazine, Delirium Magazine, HorrorTalk and Shock Till You Drop. Richelle is currently in the process of writing her first book, which will be a critical analysis of a famous American ‘60s sitcom and its reflections in the political climate of the time.
